Abstract

Sex desegregation programs in public schools accept been promoted for years and children's drawings could exist used to evaluate the effectiveness of sex disinterestedness in education. This report investigated kindergarten and 3rd grade children's drawings to come across whether gender differentiation was shown in their drawings by carefully examining in particular the variables of subject matters (domestic vs. outdoor activities, more people vs. more objects, existent vs. unreal experiences, active vs. quiet subjects, and aggressive vs. nonaggressive expression), the gender selection, class used in shapes, the colour choice, and artistic skills. The results revealed that gender differentiation in children's drawings was only shown in two dimensions amidst the nine dimensions: drawing skills and preference for selecting sex activity to draw. All the same, gender differentiation was non shown for the variables of subject matters, in the apply of form in shapes, and in color selection. Moreover, in comparing gender differentiation, the tertiary graders had more similar distributions in nearly of the variables than the kindergartners had. Therefore, sex equity in didactics is a reasonable explanation for the changed proportion of boys' and girls' drawings in these variables between kindergarten and third grade in this study.
